Meet the Maker*: Laura Hasenöhrl

Object and textile designer, art therapist, and creator Laura Hasenöhrl brings playfulness and lightness to everyday life, because being an adult can be… well, boring. She can tell you the rest herself.

«"I wish I were a chicken..."» What begins like a nostalgic song is almost my mission statement. At its core, it's about the free spirit, the lightness of being, and our sense of humor.

My background is in object and textile design, and I work in the field of art therapy. My ceramics journey began two years ago, with a focus on modeling.

My ceramic collection arose from the desire to bring playfulness back into everyday life. This applies not only to myself, but to us adults in general. We often spend time being serious and earnest. Yet, play has been an essential part of how we experience joy since the beginning of our lives. This is something I want to revive not only in my work as an art therapist, but also with my pieces. They are an invitation to view everyday life with humor and to give the child within us a little space again, whether in our hearts or on our shelves.

I'm just at the beginning and excited to see where this work will lead me. What I am, for now, is a happy db-Pottery member.

Laura's work can be seen in our studio window at Schiffbaustrasse 9a throughout April. You can find more of her work on Instagram at @houseofcreation.ch consequences.
