When will there be new places to become a member?
Due to the high demand for membership subscriptions, there are currently no more places available. However, we have a waiting list which you are welcome to join. We will contact you when places become available.
Why is there no more stamp card?
Due to the high demand for our membership subscriptions and for organisational reasons, we do not offer hourly subscriptions. You can attend courses without a membership, but otherwise db pottery is a members-only space.
Is a course absolutely necessary to become a member?
If you're not very familiar with clay and have never worked on a potter's wheel, you'll need to take a course with us to become a member. If you're experienced and know the pottery process well, you can get started right away after a one-time instruction session. The one-hour introduction to our db pottery studio costs CHF 50.
What do I need to bring as a member?
Nothing. Everything is provided in the studio. Members can choose between four different types of clay. The cost of the material is included in the final price. The price is CHF 25 per kilogram of double-fired and glazed clay. The studio now also offers porcelain. This is recycled by the members themselves and can be obtained and paid for by a technician. The cost is CHF 7 per kilogram of raw porcelain. However, the firing and glazing costs remain at CHF 25.
Is the studio cleaned regularly?
Yes, and that applies to every single member. That includes you! The pottery process is very dusty and can even lead to health problems if it's not kept clean. We rely on all members cleaning up for about half an hour after pottery sessions. This is the only way to ensure clean and well-maintained workspaces. In addition, the studio is cleaned twice a week by a professional cleaner.
How does the cancellation work?
The cancellation of a membership should be notified to us at denise@db-pottery.ch at least 1 month before the membership expires. We ask every member to empty their storage space in the basement in good time. We charge a cancellation fee of CHF 50 for memberships of six months or more.
Can I extend my membership?
A membership is automatically renewed unless we receive written notice of cancellation. The costs will be adjusted if it changes from a six-month subscription to an annual subscription.
Can I pay the membership monthly?
Yes, this is possible. We ask each member to set up a standing order for the first day of the month for the duration of the subscription. The first payment will be made at the studio, as well as the one-month membership.
Can I start as a member in the middle of the month?
No. For organisational reasons, a membership always starts on the first day of the month.
Can I also be in the studio in the evening or on a Sunday?
Every member has free access to the studio. This means you can pursue your hobby even on Sundays or late in the evening. We simply ask that you be considerate and organize yourselves during classes so that you don't start cleaning when the participants begin tidying up. Occasionally, all the potter's wheels may be occupied. In such cases, we ask for your flexibility, meaning you might unexpectedly need to dedicate yourself to glazing or hand-building. We also have a large rolling mill and, NEW this year, a corner for making plaster molds.
Can I leave my personal belongings in the studio?
Each member will be given a small storage area in the basement where they can place their personal belongings and all their pottery. The db pottery studio declines all liability in the event of loss or demolition.
Why are the hours limited?
db pottery studio GmbH is set up exclusively for part-time potters. This allows us to keep costs low and the benefits for all members high. Therefore, the maximum number of hours in the studio is 15 per week.
Is the studio always open for members?
The studio is generally always open to members. However, we prefer not to have members in the studio between midnight and 7:00 AM. Occasionally, events take place in the studio during which member access may be suspended. These dates will be announced well in advance via the members' page.
