«GRADIENT PLATES» IN BRIGHT COLORS

In this three-hour course, participants will learn how to create porcelain with a gradient color effect. We will work with a slab roller using a hand-building technique. Participants will have the opportunity to create two plates with a color ombre effect.

Arjan van Dal is a Dutch ceramicist living in London. He works primarily with porcelain. His work lies at the intersection of craft, art, and design. His starting point is a artisanal approach. The result looks almost industrially produced and is detailed and precise.
Form and colour are the central elements of his work. The white porcelain as a medium is usually coloured and shaped on the pottery wheel. The finished pieces are intensively polished in order to achieve a particularly tactile experience and enhance the perception of the depth of colour.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to work with porcelain to create an exciting gradient surface. They will create two serving plates with a beautiful satin finish.

We will then fire these plates for you and, if you wish, glaze them transparently.

This course is suitable for beginners and advanced students.
