For two days, we will explore the historical technique of clay marbling with Marc Leuthold. Using pigments and a light-colored clay base, we will marble the clay from scratch. We will then combine colored clay to create forms ranging from small boxes, teacups, and vessels to pure sculptures – participants are free to unleash their creativity. Once the forms are leather-hard, we will work them with incisions and scrapings to reveal the marbled patterns we have created. Since the marbled clay is our final surface decoration, no glaze is required; the objects only need to be fired once.
