Here you can find out what to expect during your first three-hour pottery lesson in our intensive course.
6:00 PM – Arrival and exchange

In a relaxed atmosphere, participants get to know each other over a cup of tea. Prior experience, whether in pottery or other crafts, is welcome, but not required. Pottery on the wheel is a physical process that often feels more intuitive than one might expect.
18:10 – Demonstration: Pottery on the potter's wheel, step by step
At the beginning of the intensive pottery wheel course, the entire process is demonstrated: from centering the clay to the finished form. The movements are explained step by step and their context is made clear. The demonstration provides orientation, as the process is later learned in smaller steps.
18:30 – Practical work on the turntable
Now it's time to try your own turntable. First, the focus is on posture, then on centering the sound. There's laughter, experimentation, corrections, and starting again. Failures are allowed, because that's precisely where the learning process lies.
The course instructor provides individual guidance and support wherever it is needed.
19:15 – Practice, repetition & gain confidence at the turntable
In the second round, more confidence develops. Some quickly find their flow, others need more time. Both are perfectly valid. The intensive rotating platform course offers space for personal pace, experimentation, and quiet concentration.
20:40 – Cleaning up & safe studio practice in pottery
Tidying up and cleaning are an integral part of pottery and are also important from a health perspective. Splashes of clay dry over time and can turn into fine dust that can be inhaled. Therefore, we deliberately clean thoroughly with water in the studio.
This keeps the workspace not only tidy but also healthy. Tidying up is therefore an integral part of the entire pottery process, just like the throwing itself.
9:00 PM – The next leg of the journey

The first pieces are left under plastic to dry slowly. At the next session, they are further worked on and trimmed. In the following weeks, throwing and trimming alternate before the ceramics are fired and then glazed in the final week. The entire course lasts seven weeks.
Finally, the finished pieces are glazed in a relaxed atmosphere, optionally with a glass of Prosecco. After the second firing, the ceramics can be picked up about a week later as personal, handcrafted items.
