FAQ Membership
Our FAQ Membership answers your most burning questions about membership subscriptions from db pottery.
Due to the high demand for membership subscriptions, there are currently no more places available. However, we have a waiting list which you are welcome to join. We will contact you when places become available.
Due to the high demand for our membership subscriptions and for organisational reasons, we do not offer hourly subscriptions. You can attend courses without a membership, but otherwise db pottery is a members-only space.
If you are not very familiar with clay and have never worked on the potter's wheel before, you will need to attend a course with us to become a member. If you are experienced and know the pottery process very well, you can start right away after a one-time instruction. The one-hour introduction to our db pottery studio costs CHF 50.
Nothing. Everything is available in the studio. Members can choose between four different types of clay. The cost of the material will be added to the final product. The price per kilo of double-fired and glazed clay is CHF 25.
The studio now also has porcelain. This is recycled by the members themselves and can be obtained and paid for by a technician. The cost here is CHF 7 per kilo of raw porcelain. However, the cost of firing and glazing remains at CHF 25.
Yes, and from every single member. That's right, you too! The pottery process is a very dusty affair and can also lead to health problems if you don't keep it clean. We rely on all members to clean up for about half an hour after pottery. This is the only way to ensure clean and tidy workplaces.
In addition, the studio is cleaned twice a week by a cleaner. Thank you for your understanding.
The cancellation of a membership should be notified to us at denise@db-pottery.ch at least 1 month before the membership expires. We ask every member to empty their storage space in the basement in good time. We charge a cancellation fee of CHF 50 for memberships of six months or more.
A membership is automatically renewed unless we receive written notice of cancellation. The costs will be adjusted if it changes from a six-month subscription to an annual subscription.
Yes, this is possible. We ask each member to set up a standing order for the first day of the month for the duration of the subscription. The first payment will be made at the studio, as well as the one-month membership.
No. For organisational reasons, a membership always starts on the first day of the month.
Every member has free access to the studio. You can therefore also pursue your hobby on a Sunday or late in the evening. We only ask that you organise yourselves so that you do not start cleaning when the course participants start tidying up. It can rarely happen that all the pottery wheels are occupied. Then we ask for flexibility, i.e. to dedicate yourself to glazing or hand-building even if this is not planned. We also have a large slab roller and a NEW corner for making plaster moulds.
Each member will be given a small storage area in the basement where they can place their personal belongings and all their pottery. The db pottery studio declines all liability in the event of loss or demolition.
db pottery studio GmbH is only set up for part-time potters. This allows us to keep costs low and benefits high for all members. The maximum number of hours in the studio is therefore 15 hours per week
The studio is always open for members. However, we do not want any members in the studio between midnight and seven in the morning. From time to time, there are events in the studio during which member operation may be suspended. These dates will be announced in good time via our internal member page. If your questions are not answered by our FAQs, please contact denise@db-pottery.ch.
