Arjan Van Dal

Arjan van Dal (1974) is a Dutch ceramist living in London. He works mainly with porcelain. His work is at the interface of craft, art and design. His work starts with an artisanal approach. The result looks almost industrially manufactured and is detailed and precise.
Form and color are the central elements of his work. The white porcelain medium is usually colored and shaped on the potter's wheel. The finished pieces are intensively polished to achieve a particularly tactile experience and to enhance the perception of the color depth.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to work with porcelain to achieve an exciting gradient surface. In contrast to our Gradient Plates (in bright colours) workshop, in this workshop we work without pigments but only with the natural colours of the clay bodies used.

Wir fokussieren uns dabei auf die Verbindung und die dabei entstehenden Verläufe von Porzellan mit Steinzeugton.   Dabei erschaffen die Teilnehmer:innen zwei Präsentierteller mit wunderschöner seidenmatter Oberfläche. 

We will then fire these plates for you and, if you wish, glaze them transparently.

This course is suitable for beginners and advanced students.
